[His bed?! Well, he just got himself a nice big bed with extra pillows, but the flirty meaning behind Vanitas' comment isn't lost on him.
...He's not sure how he feels about it, considering his conversation with Vincent.]
Welcome. [He gestures for Vanitas to enter.] I hope you'll enjoy your nap while you're here.
[Because that's what he meant with the bed comment, right? Totally.
Aether isn't wearing his scarf so there's a very visible bite mark over his neck and shoulder. It's much different than a vampire bite, but Vanitas may recognize it anyway.]
[A more naive innocent mind would've likely taken the 'catnap' approach, but given their three-way encounter, it's not unreasonable for Aether to immediate jump to naughty conclusions. (He is right, after all...)
Though met initially with Vanitas' usual playful/flirty smile, it's quick to to disappear upon seeing the traveler's exposed and injured neck. While he does enter readily, once the door is closed he immediately whirls upon his friend and reaches out to touch the injury lightly.]
Naps aside, you're hurt. What happened? Was it Vincent? Are you alright?
[Because yes indeed, he knows that mark well, having become used to sporting several at any given time himself. What mainly concerns him is the circumstances behind its imparting. Whether or not there was any conflict between them.]
[Well, when you offer yourself up as both food and a front-line fighter, injuries are bound to happen. Perhaps that's why Vanitas isn't so much as surprised as simply worried.]
I thought it strange I never see him partake in meals... I'm glad one of us addressed the matter directly.
[In other words, he's kicking himself for not doing so first. But at least it seems Aether isn't in pain. That much he can take comfort in.]
I hadn't considered that he might not know what it was he needed, but that stands to reason; these souls don't come with manuals, after all.
[Removing his hand, he then leans in to replace it with his lips, softly kissing the injury with tender care, as though that might make it feel better. And who knows? Perhaps it will in some sort of strange way.]
I noticed since I cooked for him in the past and he wasn't eating too much back then either, but now... it really felt like he was forcing himself.
[That plus the encounter with Noé gave Aether a lot to think about.]
I am a spectral type as well, but so far I can still eat the same things as I did in the past. There may be a time when I'll have to figure this out myself, too. [Not like that's important at the moment.] Anyway, Vincent seemed to... enjoy the blood, but, uh, I can't say I enjoy getting bitten that hard. [He looks away.] It hurt... but I stopped feeling any pain or distress very fast. Then things went...
[He's not sure how he should say it and his mind is completely distracted when Vanitas starts pressing soft kisses to his wound. Such tender care is getting a soft moan out of him, but Aether looks almost ashamed of himself.]
V-Vanitas, I... We should all talk about it. All three of us. After what happened.
[He's making such a good job at talking about this.]
I see... I feel a fool for not noticing sooner. Given the amount of time we spend together, I should have been able to put two and two together quicker.
[He could blame his preoccupation with learning all he can about the world and its rules, but really, he's just been oblivious. It makes him burn with annoyance at his own ineptitude.]
I hope that doesn't come to pass for you... I know how much food means to you. [As both a means of enjoyment and a way of showing affection for those he cares about. Though upon hearing how hard Vincent bit him, Vanitas frowns, brows furrowing.] I shall talk to him, if need be. He needs to learn to respect those who offer themselves up to him.
[Again and again he presses gentle, soothing kisses to the wound, then along his shoulder, before reversing to trail up Aether's jaw. He at least has the sense to pause upon hearing his name, though, curious.]
Hmm~? What is there to talk about? We had sex. We enjoyed it. I would happily do so again, should the occasion arise. Is there a problem?
[As if to make his point clear, both arms move to encircle Aether, one hand wandering to his ass while the other cradles his head.]
I don't think you have anything to blame yourself for.
[He really doesn't, especially that it wasn't so easy to figure out. Even in front of Aether, Vincent did his best to force himself to eat.
Still, Aether also wishes he didn't have to give up on food and enjoying it with those close to him.
As for the other part, he shakes his head.] It's... it's okay. At least it helped him figure something out.
[Ah, but those kisses. They're so hard to resist, so wonderful against his wounded skin. Vanitas' lips are warm and Aether would love to respond to him with kisses of his own, but he resists. He needs to, for Vincent's sake...
His eyes widen when Vanitas talks so nonchalantly about the experiences they shared... and then reaches for his behind. Aether quickly grabs that hand and narrows his eyes at the other. His face burns.]
W-well, it's not that easy! Especially not to Vincent. He... he told me that he made a promise to only ever be intimate with you.
[After hearing that, it doesn't seem fair to do any of this behind Vincent's back.]
[Self-loathing is a powerful thing, after all, even if Vincent managed to be rather convincing regarding his condition. Ah well.
Vanitas nods though, accepting Aether at his word that all is well between them. He knows the traveler is no slouch, and trusts him to make sound judgement calls in regards to his own safety. ...most of the time, anyways.]
My thanks for doing so. I worry that had you not, he would have continued to starve himself out of some stupid pride or misplaced fear.
[Though not pleased to have his affections interrupted, he manages to only pout slightly at Aether when his hand is seized, causing him to retreat a little in order to peer at Aether's face, although he remains close enough for their breath to intermingle.
It seems such a simple problem to him, if one could even call it that at all, so he hums quietly, musing over how best to go about this.]
Not to him, huh...? Well, we both crossed over that promise in order to bring you into the fold, so I hardly think such a vow still stands as it did. You didn't think we'd have our way with you and then simply let you go, did you?
[Which might sound rather ominous, but... he means it affectionately? Though hearing about Vincent, he chuckles a bit, darkly.]
Yes, I'm well aware... Almost obsessively so... He can be a touch... frightening in his enthusiasm, sometimes. [Perking up, he rubs noses with Aether.] Did something happen between you two?
[Aether has not even a shade of the doubt that Vincent would starve himself unable to figure out what he really needs. Thankfully, that didn't happen and they're all more aware of what is going on.]
He didn't want to hurt me... but I'm stubborn. [Weirdly stubborn to get himself into danger.
As for their little problem, Aether sighs, his gaze not meeting Vanitas'.]
I... No, it didn't feel like that to me. But I have to wonder... if any of you really need me in this. You seem perfectly content with each other.
[Or maybe not perfectly considering the other part he hears. Aether frows a little, but the rubbing against his nose is endearing so his expression softens.]
W-well, we... I guess after losing so much blood and feeling no pain, I was in a pretty delirious state of mind. [His eyes close, his cheeks red.] Needy, too. [A pause.] And Vincent seemed pretty eager as well... but we didn't do anything. Like I said, he was adamant to keep his promise despite everything. I agreed with him. Then we both agreed we need to talk to you.
That you are. I know that much already, heh. Thank you for taking care of him.
[Despite that and perhaps because of Aether's words, Vanitas pushes the traveler's bangs up in order to clear the way for a kiss to his forehead.]
Being content doesn't mean we can't be happier to have you included, you know. I want to share myself with you, just as I have with Vincent. I'm sure he feels the same way. Do you not wish to?
[That part is of the utmost importance, after all. There's no reason to pressure Aether into a situation he doesn't desire to be in, as wonderful as having him is. The last thing either him or Vincent wish to do is make it so their friend feels like he's trapped with them. Though Vanitas has to smile a bit upon hearing that Aether basically got drunk on giving blood.]
I wouldn't have minded if you had. You're both precious people to me, and I trust you two to be open and honest with me. That's all I ask. I merely wish to know where we stand, understood? So if he's fine with having you, then I'm fine with it as well, and so I imagine the reverse holds true.
[Switching to the uninjured side of side of Aether's neck, he delivers another kiss.]
So it should be fine if we wish to do something together to get those pent up frustrations of yours out...
[He did it because he cares about Vincent. That's all.
Aether looks up when his forehead is kissed. His companion's words make him blush once more, but his heart feels fuller now, warmth by the sentiment.]
I do... I wish to share the moments with you and with Vincent. You both mean so much to me. More than you think.
[He's definitely not feeling trapped, but he can't help wondering if he's in the way. He isn't blind, he can see how much Vincent and Vanitas love one another. He wishes for them to be happy. Isn't it selfish to ruin someone else's happiness for your own desires?
But Vanitas' reassurances easily sway him, especially when he kisses him again, warm lips against skin so much more sensitive than before thanks to his companion's words.]
Why does it feel like you're trying to seduce me? [He laughs, but then his own arms wrap around Vanitas and he presses himself closer.]
You're both important to me. I wish to be with you, offer myself to you both. But I also think it's only fair that Vincent knows about it before we do anything. So we're all on the same page.
[Still, he is grateful and that's worth conveying to him, if only so Aether knows.
Upon hearing how much they - both he and Vincent - mean to him, Vanitas can't help smiling against the other's forehead, a gesture he hopes can be felt.]
I think I have an inkling of what we may mean to you... Perhaps it's not something I fully grasp, but I do believe I understand to a degree.
[While Vanitas could see where such doubts may come from, he would have to question how Aether is "ruining" anything. Does not love added to more love widen the pool? Granted, Vanitas is hardly a master of such matters, but that's why he follows his heart - and his whims, acting as he pleases in the moment. Hugging the traveler tight, he can't help laughing softly.]
Because I am, mon étoile. I'm trying to woo you to the best of my abilities. Is it working? [Teasing though it is, his words are warm and gentle.]
Hmm... I don't think he'd mind, but very well. For your peace of mind, I'll hold myself back. Since you two were polite enough to do the same.
[And the last thing they need to do is risk incurring Vincent's displeasure.]
[The smile can be indeed felt, warming Aether's heart only further.]
As long as we all feel the same, that's what matters the most. It... makes me happy to be with you. Both of you.
[It's such a simple thing. The traveler also laughs when he's hugged so tightly, returning with a squeeze of his own.]
Hmm... I don't know? Maybe you need to try a bit more. [Another clear laugh.] No, actually... it is working. It's hard for me to resist when you treat me with care. You're wonderful, you know that? [He reaches up to press a hand on Vanitas' cheek.] Especially when you smile like this.
[He's so helplessly smitten.]
Thank you. Once we all talk about it... Well, you're always welcome here. I guess I split my heart and gave a half to both of you. [He doesn't have a doubt that it'll be cherished.
Suddenly he remembers something and reaches for his wing, pulling out a loose feather.]
...You didn't get to keep it, right? [From back then, during the nightmare.] So this yours. Another piece of me that will always be with you. [He offers the feather to Vanitas.]
And I with you. There's something unnaturally brilliant about you, Aether. Your presence warms and inspires.
[Perhaps due to him being a star of sorts. Always shining his benevolent light upon those around him. Although not usually one for hugs - Aether's are a world apart from those of Roland's. Much more gentle and easier to accept.]
Haha... Glad to know I haven't lost my charm, then. Though I hardly think my smile can compare to yours... Nor do I think myself 'wonderful' in much of any sense.
[But enough of that. No need to drag the mood down.]
Then I'll be sure to handle my half with the utmost care... [It's said with the same sincerity as his other words, though when Aether plucks a feather for him, his brows raise in surprise. He hadn't been sure if that was real or merely a dream.
Taking the feather with all due care, he clasps it between both hands, a startlingly gentle expression on his face.]
....my thanks. You don't know how much that little beacon of light helped during those days. It gave me something to focus on, to hope for, and to cling to. [Carefully he tucks it away in his book, so that it won't be damaged.] In fact, I have something for you, too. A mirror that will allow us to travel between our rooms in an instant. ...should you desire it.
[He's been told he's radiant before, but Vanitas saying that makes him feel special. There's redness to Aether's cheeks. He's touched by this moment, so much that his heart might explode from affection overflowing it.]
You can be extremely charming... [He says, then grins:] As long as you're not trying to annoy someone. [A short laugh follows and Aether feels like his breath is taken away just with Vanitas' words alone.] But it's true. You are wonderful. Whenever I'm with you, I wish for these moments to last forever.
[The soft moments of affections they share, the dance lessons, the evening they spent with Vincent... Aether always looks back fondly at those memories.] I have no doubt that the half of my heart is in good hands.
[The expression Vanitas makes when he's given the feather seems to be too much for Aether's heart. It jumps in his chest, like it wants to be let out and it takes all self-control for the traveler to not pull the other closer once more and press soft kisses all over his face.
But to know that this little gift kept his dear companion's hope alive, that it was useful...]
I'm glad... [He whispers. There's still guilt in him that he couldn't do more. He presses a hand over his heart, clutching his shirt. Even if it wasn't much he could still do sometimes.
He hopes Vanitas will never have to live through that again.]
A mirror? That sounds great. [He smiles.] You're always welcome here, but you know that already.
And thankfully it's not mere lip service from Vanitas, either, in a literal or metaphorical sense. He doesn't tend to lie, though he will frequently omit things.]
Haha... At least you're well aware that it's deliberate. Some people don't, and thus they fall for it. [Despite his reservations about his own worth, he can't help but trust in Aether's belief in him, to some degree.] That... makes me feel truly special, I hope you realize.
[Because rarely does anyone ever wish to remain in his presence, Noé aside. And even with him, it started as wanting to see where his journey would take him, what his efforts would lead to.] I'm sure both will be safely guarded and treasured...
[Closing his eyes, Vanitas nods, taking hold of Aether's hands in his own so he can gently run his fingers over his knuckles, affectionately touching each one. He has plans for that little feather, that symbol of their friendship and the hope it inspires within him.]
Don't beat yourself up. You did plenty. [He can imagine what Aether might be thinking, because he knows his kind, bleeding heart so well already. With any luck, neither of them will have to experience such horrors again.]
And you at my place. If you ever get lonely or need somewhere to retreat to, my door is always open to you.
I know you and people like you. [He grins like he hasn't fallen for Vanitas' teasing in the past.
He laughs a little by the other's words.] In that case... we both make feel each other truly special.
[There's something nice about that. Something, that he deeply appreciates. Just as much as he appreciates the care Vanitas declares for both his heart and the feather, as well as the way he handles Aether's hands, holding them, touching them gently. The traveler closes his eyes, enjoying this small moment, fighting the urge to pull closer, kiss, whisper his affections against Vanitas' skin. He deserves to know how loved he is.
Ah, but he looks up, surprised when his partner seems like he's read his mind.]
You know me well by now, too, huh. [He smiles lightly.] I know. I did everything I could.
[He'll learn to push that lingering guilt away.]
Same to you. [Another grin.] You're free to use my comfy bed as much as you like. I got a bigger one for a reason.
[...No, he doesn't mean only for more passionate nights! Although he's not going to pretend that it was not some part of the reason.]
Uh oh~ I feel like that's almost a threat... [Even now he can't help being a bit playful. Though he also takes care to reach out and gently stroke Aether's hair back from his face.]
Indeed. Because there's no one quite like you.
[Nobody else has managed to worm their way into his heart quite like Aether, with his gentle kindness and honeyed words. Yet there's nothing false or overly saccharine about them. Just honest feelings which match the traveler's golden appearance. Like a sun, if not a star, radiant and warm and much like a vampire's true name.
At Aether's surprise, he merely chuckles, fingers brushing over his cheek before clasping his chin between them.]
That I do. Not as well as I would like, but... that's an issue we can work on, hmm?
[Leaning in, he steals a kiss from him, lingering and passionate.]
Trust me, I shall avail myself of your hospitality frequently. I long to see your blushing face again...
[HE certainly means amorous nights, go figure. And nobody was surprised...]
Is it now? [He grins in response, tone just as playful.]
Hm... You're complementing me so much. But I feel just the same.
[There's just this peace in his heart that he feels when he's by Vanitas' side, like he truly has a place he belongs to.]
Yeah... we can definitely work on that. [He smiles, easily brought closer, his body trembling ever so slightly, longing to close the gap between them.] I have nothing to hide from you anymore anyway.
[He closes his eyes, enjoying the way their lips glide against one another, the passion that follows, lingering, making him crave for far more than he can have right now. He sighs when they pull away from the kiss, his hands settle on Vanitas' hips.]
You're truly greedy, aren't you? [He draws closer, lids only half open.] I wish to see your blushing face just as much.
[Did he think it would be only a one-way thing? Well, no.]
Indeed... [If one innocent word can convey sultry suggestiveness, he's managed it.]
I merely speak the truth.
[Which is ironic since he would find it difficult to believe it if Aether were to claim the same.]
I should hope not, now that I know all of you... Intimately.
[Watching Aether's expression keenly as they share a kiss, he runs a hand over the small of the traveler's back, clawed gloves carefully raking the bare skin there to tantalize both of them. He has to laugh at being called 'greedy', though.]
You don't know the half of it. [That admission gets a teasing smirk.] That is something you'll have to earn, I'm afraid.
[Meaning he's not given to blushing willy-nilly without reason. Best of luck, Aether!]
[There are times when he wonders if Vanitas could turn any and all words into something suggestive.]
And I do too. Only the truth.
[And Vanitas better believe it!
The traveler shudders ever so slightly when that hand grazes his bare skin. He presses closer longing for more contact, his wings reach to Vanitas as well, as if to envelope him.]
So you're making it a challenge? I'm good at those.
[He's absolutely vowing himself to do it, to make Vanitas blush...
But suddenly, Aether pulls away. They're getting too heated up in here.]
...But all of that has to wait until the talk with Vincent. [As much as he wishes to just go for it, to let them both be greedy with one another, he can't. Vincent's promise is more important and until they all agree on their current situation, he wants to respect it.]
[That in itself sounds like a challenge... (Vanitas, no.)]
Hmm... I trust you. I think you would rather burn than have lies leave your lips.
[His other hand comes up to rub gently over said lips, as his own pull back into a feral grin. The wings around them are nice, shielding them and providing more warmth for his ever cold veins.]
I like your fighting spirit. Show me then, mon étoile...
[As Aether pulls away though, Vanitas almost pouts, disappointment at having his fun spoiled so soon clear. But in the end he merely heaves a sigh, fingers grazing over the traveler's side as he trails his hand back to his own side.]
Very well then. You truly are too noble and honorable for your own good. But I respect that. [He feels it would be fine to ask later, but doesn't wish to get Aether in hot water, so, wait they shall, as boring as that is.]
Actually, that's not true. I can lie if I have to. I'm not as innocent as you think.
[Vanitas just didn't witness it yet. Not like Aether gets much more to say when his companion clearly wants more and more of him, pressing a finger over his lip, wanting the challenge that the traveler presents to him. Sadly, showing him will have to wait.
In a way, Aether is disappointed as well, but he doesn't want to upset Vincent or fail him.]
It's something to look forward to, don't you think? [He tries to laugh it away, but his heart is still racing.] For now, though... Ah right. Did you manage to talk to Xiao?
And yet I imagine they would be the sweetest of lies...
[Yeah, press X to doubt, sorry, Aether, you just give off Good Boy vibes. But he believes him, at least to a degree, because otherwise that would mean he's lying now, right??
Alas, they'll be good boys for now and stick to behaving themselves. Vincent deserves that much respect.]
Very true. It's difficult to argue with logic like that. [Vanitas at least can laugh, though he does steal a light kiss, brief and almost chaste for him. The subject change gets a snort, however.] I did. How much good it managed, I can't say. But trust me when I say I was on my best behavior. I still think he doesn't care for me, though.
[Somehow he sounds more amused than put out about it...]
[But he doesn't want to talk about this more than it's already said. It doesn't seem like Vanitas can be convinced now anyway.
The sweet kiss is met with a soft, warm look in Aether's eyes. He honestly can't get enough of the other's affections and all those gentle, tender ones are making his heart beat only faster.]
You did your best. I think you deserve some praise for that. [He grins and reaches up, petting Vanitas' head a little, before reaching towards his cat ears and gently scratching behind one.] I still think both of you are similar in some ways.

I'm perfectly fine... I was worried about Vincent since he was eating less and less. I thought maybe it was his spectral soul and I was right.
[He presses Vanitas' hand over his injury, just enough to indicate that it's not hurting anymore despite the clear marks.]
He can't really stomach normal food anymore and he didn't know what he needed either... so I suggested trying with blood.
[It was really the only idea he had!]

[Because trust is important!]
no subject
[And the last thing they need to do is risk incurring Vincent's displeasure.]
no subject
[He offers the feather to Vanitas.]
no subject
A mirror that will allow us to travel between our rooms in an instant. ...should you desire it.
no subject
[He smiles.] You're always welcome here, but you know that already.
no subject
If you ever get lonely or need somewhere to retreat to, my door is always open to you.
no subject
Although he's not going to pretend that it was not some part of the reason.]
no subject
And nobody was surprised...]
no subject
Well, no.]
no subject
Best of luck, Aether!]
no subject
Vincent's promise is more important and until they all agree on their current situation, he wants to respect it.]
no subject
[He feels it would be fine to ask later, but doesn't wish to get Aether in hot water, so, wait they shall, as boring as that is.]
no subject
[Changing the subject.]
no subject
[Somehow he sounds more amused than put out about it...]
no subject
[But he doesn't want to talk about this more than it's already said. It doesn't seem like Vanitas can be convinced now anyway.
The sweet kiss is met with a soft, warm look in Aether's eyes. He honestly can't get enough of the other's affections and all those gentle, tender ones are making his heart beat only faster.]
You did your best. I think you deserve some praise for that. [He grins and reaches up, petting Vanitas' head a little, before reaching towards his cat ears and gently scratching behind one.] I still think both of you are similar in some ways.
